An element State: Solid; Group: IIIB (Lanthanide Series); Atomic No: 60; Atomic Wt: 144-24; Valence: 3; Isotopes: 7 stable. A rare-earth metal, m.p. 1024 °C (1875 °F), obtained from monazite sands and bastnasite ore. It readily tarnishes and is attacked by atmospheric moisture.
