Date :Définition
A primary electric cell consisting of zinc and manganese dioxide electrodes immersed in an electrolyte of aqueous ammonium chloride. In order to ensure good electrical conductance, the manganese dioxide is mixed in with powdered carbon and packed round a carbon rod which acts as the electrode terminal. In its practical form, often referred to as the dry Leclanché cell, or dry cell, the ammonium chloride is mixed with glycerine in the form of a paste and the assembly packed in a zinc container which acts as the negative electrode. Because it is unable to provide a constant voltage for long periods, it is best suited to intermittent uses such as torches and door bells.
