A heavy white pigment prepared by the reaction ZnSO₄+BaS->BaSO₄+ ZnS, composed of about 1 part zinc sulfide and 3 parts barium sulfate; its coloring or hiding powder is about the same as that of zinc oxide but much less than that of litanium pigments.

Note :

It was once the most widely used pigment in the paint and rubber industries but has been largely replacey by titanium oxide.
