Date :Définition
A liquid aromatic amine b.p. 184.4 °C (364 °F), having the formula C6H5NH2. It is made by reacting nitrobenzene vapor with hydrogen with a catalyst, removing two oxygen atoms from the nitrobenzene to form aniline and water; or by reacting chlorobenzene with ammonia. Diphenylamine and phenol are by-products of this process. Aniline has two major uses, both introduced early in the century: (1) as the starting point for a large and important family of organic dyes and (2) as a basic organic accelerator and antioxidant for rubber. It is also employed as a chemical intermediate and in photographic chemicals. Aniline is toxic and is absorbed by the skin; it should be handled with care.
