Next to acetone, the most important and widely used of the ketones. The formula is CH₃C=OC₂H₅, b.p. 80 °C (176 °F).

Note :

It is flammable, and explosions may occur at concentrations of 2 to 10% in air. Its major uses are as a solvent, expecially for nitrocellulose, ((...)).
