Date :Définition
An alcohol solution of a resin obtained from a unique type of tropical insect, especially in India.
Note :
The unbleached type is called orange shellac due to its color. When dry it forms a hard, transparent coating and thus is used for furniture and other wood products as a finishing and protective coating. Its high electrical resistance makes it useful as an insulating coating. The name is derived from the same base as lacquer and is probably of Hindu origin.
