Date :Définition
A process whereby a molecule of hydrogen chloride is removed from an organic chloride leaving a double or triple bond in the organic compound. It is the principal process for manufacturing vinyl chloride from ethylene dichloride (1,2-dichloroethane), by the reaction CH2ClCH2Cl → CH2 = CHCl + HCl. It can be conducted thermally at an elevated temperature or at lower temperatures in the presence of an alkali which reacts with the liberated HCl.
