Définition

The outbreak of fire in combustible material (such as oily rags or damp hay) that occurs without the direct application of a flame or a spark.

The ignition of a substance or body from the rapid oxidation of its own constituent without heat from any external source.

Note :

It is usually caused by slow oxidation processes (such as atmospheric oxidation or bacterial fermentation) under conditions that do not permit the dissipation of heat.
