Date :Définition
Concentrating collectors. Solar collectors designed to focus large amounts of solar radiation upon a relatively small collection area to produce higher temperatures than those attainable by flat-plate collectors.
A collector which uses reflective devices or optical lens arrangements to concentrate the sun's rays onto a small collector/absorber area.Note :
Such collectors must usually be made to track the sun, since they generally require accurate alignment of incoming radiation with an optical axis to achieve maximum efficiency. They are very sensitive to fouling of mirror surfaces by water or dust and cannot operate well in cloudy conditions when the direct component of the radiation is minimal. Focusing collectors are, however, capable of high output temperatures and although present designs are costly to make it may be possible to reduce costs in the future if designs suitable for large-scale production can be developed. Although generally conceived for use in desert or semidesert areas with high insolation and low precipitation, it may be possible to develop certain types for use in temperate climates.
