Sens dans lequel s'effectue la rotation (à droite ou à gauche); il est déterminé en regardant. - l'accouplement moteur (c'est-à-dire le bout d'arbre portant le demi-manchon moteur), - le bout d'arbre entraîné pour une machine réceptrice. Dans le cas d'accouplement direct d'un moteur et d'une machine réceptrice, les sens de rotation respectifs des deux machines doivent donc être opposés. Pour la détermination du sens de rotation des roues de pompes centrifuges, on ne peut pas respecter toujours cette règle.

The sense in which rotation occurs (i.e. right or left); it is determined when looking at - the coupling half of a prime mover - the driven end of the shaft of the driven machine. In the case of a direct coupling between a prime mover and a driven machine, the two must have opposing senses of rotation. The above rules cannot always be respected when determining the sense of rotation of centrifugal pump impellers.
