  In economic theory, an individual's total stock or inventory of tangible or intangible possessions having a definable market value and capable of being exchanged for money or other goods through a transfer of ownership.

  Notes :

  The term is also used in a special sense, e.g., the national wealth (the total resources of a country).
  
  The same principle may be applied both to a business firm and to an economy as a whole, measured at a single instant in time.
