  Définition

  A knot used to prevent a rope from passing through a hole or opening.
  
  A name generally used for any knot in which the strands are tucked back, such as in a Turk's head or Matthew Walker knot, to form a knob at the end of the rope as a stop where, for example, the rope is threaded through an eye or a ringbolt, perhaps for use as a handrope. Strictly speaking, a stopper knot is another name for a single or double wall knot.
