Date :Définition
A loose term for any appreciable accumulation of slightly to moderately decomposed organic matter (the L- and F-layers) on the surface of a mineral soil.
Notes :
Often extended to well humified layers (the H-layers), e.g. mors, as well as to the thick F-layers often found under first-generation conifers in cool climates.
Occasionally, however, cells are rust-stained, and have rust-coloured contents, which probably consist of a resinous substance or the rust-coloured cell contents have broken free and lie loose in the fabric. The residues in places also evidence of attack by fungi, brown of purplish-black, wiry hyphae being particularly conspicuous in thin section.Termes :
- raw humus
