Définition :
Le métabolisme d'un oiseau change graduellement pendant les quelques semaines précédant l'entrée en ponte, pour préparer l'oiseau aux activités de reproduction. Ce changement se manifeste notamment par le grossissement de la crête et des barbillons dont la couleur devient plus vive; en Anglais, on appelle cela « reddening-up ».
