  Définition

  An area of forest separated from the main occurrence of its type, its presence being due generally to some local variation in ecological conditions or to past migration of vegetation associated with major climatic changes.

  Note :

  In tropical Africa, applied typically to an isolated area of high forest surrounded by savanna - almost always associated with a stream and increased soil moisture.
