Définition :
Bord taillé obliquement, comme c'est le cas, par exemple pour la partie tranchante d'un fer de rabot, ou d'une dent de scie.
Note :
(1) Les couteaux peuvent avoir un biseau avant ou un biseau arrière, ou un biseau en tête; (2) un biseau très étroit, ou un biseau surimposé sur un biseau avant ou arrière, s'appelle surbiseau avant ou surbiseau arrière, la partie non surbiseautée restant appelée biseau initial avant, ou biseau initial arrière.
