Strongly decomposed organic material of colloidal size. It occurs in a pure state and intimately mixed with mineral material.
Notes :
The term "amorphous humus" has been used in a limited sense by Jongerius and Pons (1962): "Illuviated organix matter of colloidal size, mostly accumulated as cutans (organans). Its colour (in thin section) is dark-brown to black in dry soils, red in wet ones".
