An intermediate structure ((...)) used to effect transition from the arch dam to the foundation rock. The pad surface at the dam interface is constructed to a smooth, uniformly varying profile which coincides with the desirable type of dam-foundation contact. The pad surface at the foundation interface is constructed to conform to the contour of the excavated keyway.
