Définition :
Chapelet continu de flotteurs (tels que troncs d'arbres, fûts vides, pontons, etc.) réunis par un câble ou une chaîne, tendu devant les évacuateurs, les prises d'eau, les ouvrages de dérivations, etc., pour les protéger de l'embâcle des corps dérivants ou tendu à un point de ramassage pour y retenir au passage les bois flottés.

Log booms derive their name from the fact that they have traditionally been made from timber available as the result of reservoir clearing operations. The can, however, be constructed of other materials. ((...)) One alternative to wood in "log" booms uses tunnel ventilation pipe. Each length of pipe is filled with styrofoam and sealed at each end.
