Date :Définition
An important type of organic reaction discovered in 1928 by Otto Diels and Kurt Alder, German chemists, Nobel Prize 1950; it serves as a means of synthesizing such pharmaceutical products as codeine, morphine, cortisone, and reserpine. In simplest terms, it involves the addition at the 1 and 4 positions of an unsaturated molecule of a diolefin in which the double bonds are separated by a single bond (called a conjugated diolefin).
Note :
The compounds formed contain a hexagonal unsaturated ring, for example, cyclohexene or its derivative. 1,3-Butadiene and cyclopentadiene are often utilized in this type of reaction.
