Date :Définition
An unusual compound (BN) having a graphite-like plate structure; it is a powder of extremely small particle size (1 micron), with a very high melting point 2980 °C (5400 °F), and superior electrical resistance. Under a compression load of a million pounds per square inch, it can be made as hard as diamond. Its uses are as a furnace-lining refractory, laboratory ware (crucibles), aerospace shielding, plasma technology, dielectric materials, high-strength filaments, and solid lubricant. It is also being used for high-strength, heat-resistant fibers. It is made in an electric furnace from a blend of boric acid and tricalcium phosphate in an ammonia atmosphere.
