Date :Définition
A natural high polymer formed in certain species of trees and shrubs as a milky latex containing about 30% of polymerized rubber hydrocarbon (C5H8).
Note :
This structure was duplicated by synthetic means in the late 1950s. Polyisoprene has two geometric isomers (cis and trans); it is the cis form that is present in natural rubber; and the problem of reproducing it without contamination by the trans isomer, which destroys its rubber-like properties, was not solved until the discovery of the possibilities of stereospecific catalysts.
