Date :Définition
A broad group of carbohydrate polymers that includes cellulose, starches, and polymers of sugars such as glucose, galactose, mannose, etc., all of which are formed in plants or plant products. Among the subgroups are phycolloids found in seaweeds, water-soluble gums produced by certain species of tropical trees, and mucilages (guar gum).
Note :
The monomer units are monosaccharides (simple sugars) which can be derived by hydrolysis of the polymer. The term is derived from the Greek word for sugar.
