Date :Définition
An element. Group: Noble gas; State: Gas; Atomic No: 10; Atomic Wt: 20.179; Valence: 0; Isotopes: 3 stable. Neon is a stable, completely inert gas, forming no chemical compounds, though several ions are know. It is a minor component of air (about 0.001%), from which it can be extracted when in liquid form.
Note :
It produces colors in electric discharge tubes, one of its largest uses being for this purpose; the color varies with the type of glass used for the tube and the other gases present (argon of helium). Neon is also used in fluorescent lights, but in this case the color produced is due to the phosphors which coat the inner glass lining of the tube. It is also used in lasers and electronic instruments.
