An element. State: gas; group: noble gas; atomic no.: 36; atomic Wt.: 83.8; valence: 2; isotopes: 6 stable. Natural krypton is a gas occurring in trace percentages in air, from which it is exracted by fractionation processes. It was formerly classed as an inert gas but later was found to form a few transient compounds with fluorine. It is more than twice as heavy as air and can be prepared in liquid and solid forms at very low temperatures.
Note :
It is used in fluorescent light tubes, in flash equipment for photography, and to a limit extent in lasers. The radioactive krypton-85 is used in analytical determinations.
