Colorless, fuming, corrosive, hygroscopic liquid; m.p. 2.0 °C; b.p. 113.5 °C; sp. gr. 1.004 (25/4 °C)...; flash point (open cup) 126 °F. Miscible with water and alcohol; insoluble in chloroform and ether. Strong reducing agent and diacidic, but weak base. Is noncombustible, but vapors can be explosive... Uses : Jet and rocket fuels...
A liquid product of ammonia, chlorine and caustic soda; its formula is N2H4, and it boils at 113.5 °C (236 0F). It is extremely irritant and corrosive and may explode when heated or by oxidation.Note :
A high-energy substance, it is used as a propellant for rockets, as well as in a number of chemical applications such as polymerization initiator, inhibitor or oxidation and metal corrosion, "getter" for carbon dioxide, and in the manufacture of various pharmaceutical products. It is a powerful reducing agent, especially of metallic salts. A highly reactive compound, it readily forms hydrazides with many acids and esters, as well as forming hydrazones when reacted with carbonyl compounds.
