  Définition

  A stereospecific polymer in which the neighbouring substituent groups, not part of the backbone, lie alternately either side of the plane of the backbone.
  
  A type of stereospecific polymer whose molecules are comprised of atoms (hydrogen) and organic groups arranged in a specific and predetermined sequence above and below a chain of carbon atoms. The molecule of a syndiotactic polymer might have the arrangement RHHHRHHH above the carbon chain and HHRHHHRH below it. Such polymers can be obtained by use of Ziegler and Natta catalysts.
