Volumetric means of finding the amount of a given substance (e.g., hydrochloric acid) in a solution.
Notes :
((Titration)) is determined by addition of a standard solution of known concentration (e.g. sodium hydroxide) which will react with the substance in the original solution in an exact and predictable way; this standard solution is called the titrant or the reagent solution. In this case, the volume of titrant (NaOH) required to neutralize the original solution (HCl), that is, bring it to pH 7.0, is called the equivalence point. It is visually shown by a solution dye, or indicator, which changes color instantly when enough titrant has been added to react quantitatively with the substance being determined. This color change occurs at the end point (usually the same as the equivalence point). The amount of substance in the original solution can be calculated from the amount of titrant added and from the known proportions with which it reacts with this substance.
