The production of a score or crease in a sheet of heavy-weight paper or paperboard by pressing it between two metal surfaces, one of which has a recessed groove and the other a tongue.
Note :
The score may be produced by scoring plates or by scoring rollers and is made along the line on which the sheet is to be folded. It alters the sheet structure in such a way that it will fold more readily with less tendency to crack or break.
