Date :Définition
An inactive solvent (invariably an alcohol) used in conjunction with a true solvent for nitrocellulose, usually in the ratio of 1 volume of alcohol to 2 volumes of active solvent. Alcohols alone are not good solvents for nitrocellulose but are less costly than active solvents such as ketones, acetates, and glycols and are effective when blended with them in nitrocellulose lacquers. For this reason, their solvent power is said to be latent, i.e. hidden. An example is isopropyl alcohol.
