Date :Définition
Paternalism exists where a government, an employer or a company deals with the workers and/or their union as if the company were the parent and the workers and/or the union the child.
Note :
There exist unions in some countries enjoying excellent contracts with the employer, but unfortunately some of the very high standards exist not because the union demanded or struggled for them but because the employer for one reason or another volunteered to grand such gains. Trade unions do not flourish in a paternal atmosphere which, after all, is a hangover from the earlier feudalistic period and inevitably restricts freedom and independence.
