Date :Définition
A period of time which must elapse before a strike or lockout can begin or be resumed by agreement or by law.
In labor relations, a period of time, fixed by Federal law, state law, or contract, during which employees cannot strike and employers cannot resort to lockout as a means of forcing a settlement in a labor dispute.
Provisions of law, federal or state, which postpone strike or lockout action, to give mediation agencies an opportunity to postpone or settle the dispute. It is also designed to give the parties a chance to think things over, and in some cases an opportunity to vote on the company's "last offer", to see whether or not the employees will accept the company proposal as a settlement.Note :
The term derives from the hope that the tensions of unsuccessful negotiation will subside in time so that a work stoppage can be averted.
