  Note :

  Grinding ratio is a useful measure of ease of grinding - or grindability, a term analogous to machinability; the higher its grinding ratio, the easier a work material is to grind; any grinding ratio is found experimentally under a specific set of conditions and is the grindability index for those conditions only; the grinding ratio of a material may vary for different types of grinding operations, such as internal, cylindrical or surface grinding; however, the ranking of a group of materials with respect to grindability will generally remain about the same for all grinding operations; the grinding ratio can be greatly affected by the grinding wheel, the grinding fluid, and the operating speed and feeds.
