Note :
Such was Cleopatra's large described by Shakespeare in "Anthony and Cleopatra". Shakespeare must have seen such barges on the Thames in Elizabeth an times, and they continued in use down to the 19th century. A modern derivative of the barge in this meaning is an admiral's barge.
