Date :Définition
A heat recovery device used to generate steam or hot water from exhaust gas streams. A waste heat boiler has advantages over a gas to gas heat exchanger, arising from the high heat transfer rates. These include compact size, low capital cost, controllability and relative resistance to corrosion in exhaust gases (due to the cooling of the boiler tubes).
Note :
Like any other boilers, waste heat boilers can be classified as water tube or fire tube. Water tube types can produce higher steam pressures reliably but are less useful for handling high pressure or contaminated exhaust flows. Fire tube types can operate only at moderate steam pressures but are less susceptible to gas fouling. Superheaters, regenerators and economizers may be fitted to the water tube types to increase efficiency. For heat recovery from internal combustion engines a packaged boiler is used, taking heat from both the engine coolant and exhaust. For use with gas turbines, whose typical efficiency is 25 per cent, waste heat boilers producing low pressure steam can lead to an overall efficiency of 80 per cent; if high pressure steam is required an overall efficiency of 70 per cent is possible.
