Woolen or worsted yarn made of two single ends of different colors twisted together giving a mottled effect.
Notes :
The single ends are solid colors or mixture shades.
A term loosely applied to many types of yarn, e.g., cotton warp yarn on cop or bobbin, cotton yarn having Z direction of twist, a two-ply worsted yarn made from different coloured singles, and serving threads.
Preferably the use of the word "twist" should be confined to ((the spiral disposition of the component of a yarn, which is usually the result of relative rotation of the extremities of the yarn)) and ((the number of turns per unit length of yarn, e.g., turns per inch)) and their derivatives.Terme :
