  Définition

  A medium containing calf brain and beef heart infusion, peptone glucose, and phosphate buffer, used in the liquid state (broth) for blood culture, and solidified with agar for the culture of pathogenic bacteria, especially streptococci and pneumococci; with the addition of the antibiotics penicillin and streptomycin, or chloramphenicol and cycloheximide, it is used as a selective medium for the isolation of fungi.
