  Définition

  A water solution of sodium chloride of a higher concentration than that of sea water (about 3.0%).
  
  A water saturated or strongly impregnated with common salt.

  Notes :

  Brines are used in the chemical industry as a source of chlorine and caustic, sodium bicarbonate, soda ash, and sodium chloride; they are also used for curing and pickling hides and as supercooling media.
