A cotton (Gossypium barbadense) with usually long and silky fiber grown especially in the West Indies and along the coast region of the Southeastern U.S.
Note :
Its superiority is due to the strength, luster, fineness, remarkable uniformity and length of the fiber. It is from light cream to white in color. It contains a large proportion of nep and is therefore difficult to manipulate; it is invariably combed, sometimes twice or three times, and is used only for the very finest of cotton goods and fine count yarns.
