Définition :
Modèle de l'atome basé sur les conceptions de Bohr et de Sommerfeld, d'après lesquelles les électrons d'un atome décriraient autour d'un noyau des orbites circulaires ou elliptiques discrètes. À chacun des degrés de liberté de l'atome correspond une série d'états énergétiques qui déterminent les séries spectrales susceptibles d'être émises par l'atome.

Model of the atom based on the conception of Bohr and Sommerfeld, under which the electrons of an atom move around the nucleus in discrete circular or elliptical orbits. To each of the degrees of freedom of the atom there corresponds a series of energy states which determine the spectral series emitted by the atom.
