  The wormed roll is, in fact, a felt-conditioning roll; it works the wet felt the way one washes one's hair; it loosens the foreign materials for easier removal by the felt showers, whipper, and the suction box or boxes acting on the felt to remove foreign materials and dry up the felt, after the whipper.
