Since resist shelf life and aging are a time- and temperature-related phenomenon, exposure to environments of extreme temperatures for short time periods will approximate the same amount of chemical aging as temperatures of 21 °C over a much longer time. These tests simply ensure the long-term chemical stability of a product and are generally part of the standard batch-to-batch testing performed by resist suppliers. Since most resist users consume batches of photoresist well within the published shelf life of the product, it is usually redundant for users to run this type of test.
