Although the terms Alleghany orogeny and Allegheny orogeny can be found, they are rarely used.
The Alleghanian Orogeny affected the flanks of the southern Appalachians, but its effects are restricted to a narrow zone in the north through eastern New England, southeast New Brunswick, and along the Avalon-Meguma boundary in Nova Scotia. Its effects are also evident in a narrow zone of relatively mild deformation along the east margin of the miogeocline in Newfoundland.Termes :
