Notes :
La carambole a cinq côtés à angles prononcés et ressemble à une étoile lorsqu'on la découpe transversalement. Sa peau comestible d'aspect cireux et translucide enveloppe une chair jaune pâle, ferme, tendre et juteuse.
L'arbre qui donne la carambole ou fruit étoile a toujours été apprécié comme élément décoratif dans les jardins exotiques, en plus d'être porteur de ce fruit exquis. Nous venant principalement de la Malaisie, il est également cultivé à Taiwan, en Thaïlande, aux Indes, en Afrique tropicale, en Israël, au Brésil, en Floride et partout en Amérique du Sud.

Fruit about 8-13 cm (3-5 in) long, oval or elliptic, with attractive yellow or yellow-brown waxy rind and yellow flesh, ribbed in such a way as to make 3, 4 or more usually 5 sharp corners. Cut across, the outline and general shape of the section much resemble a star. It has a clear, watery juice, sweet or pleasantly acid.
Note :
When sliced crosswise, the yellow-gold carambola reveals the striking shape that has earned it the nickname starfruit. Both decorative shape and bright color make sliced carambolas very attractive as a garnish for beverages, salads, and meats.
