By means of a large needle, a string is passed through the stem of the leaf near its base, one end of the string being attached to the end of the fourfoot lath, and when the string is full the free end is attached to the other end of the lath. Each lath should carry thirty-six to forty leaves, and the leaves should be put on in pairs, so that they are back to back and face to face. The laths should be space five inches apart in the curing barn.
