  Note :

  Virginia tobacco; leaves mostly at shorter distances on the stem, lancet to egg-shaped. Side ribs mostly at sharp angles to the main rib, colour of blossom pale-pink to flesh-coloured. Inflorescence like simulated panicles. The stem drives side shoots (suckers) into the uppermost axisl, in some of the grades and also near ground level (ground suckers). It is a native of the state of Virginia (USA). This species is highly adaptable and can therefore be grown under many different environmental conditions, nicotiana tabacum is, therefore, the most important tobacco variety for industrial tobacco cultivation. Nicotiana tabacum is planted in nearly all areas of tobacco cultivation in all parts of the world.
