  Open Distributed Systems Structure (or Architecture) contains a set of resource managers which provide services such as file, print, and database, etc. as well as communication services in the form of messaging, RPC, and conversational services which need to be independent of the network protocols (such as OSI, SNA, TCP/IP, etc.). It also includes the management framework to manage these resource managers.
