  Note :

  Fast packet switching provides the best of both worlds. This approach uses packet transfer to allocate bandwidth more efficiently to bursty data traffic; does less packet processing which allows greater throughput; can readily be adapted to run multiple protocols. Fast packet switching comprises two base technologies, frame relay and cell relay.
