  Note :

  Conversion of outstanding debt obligations into local currency contributions for approved UNICEF programmes : a UNICEF national committee purchases sovereign debt in the secondary market at a substantial discount from face value and this debt is then exchanged for local currency provided by the debtor Government at a prearranged price; programmes selected for conversion funding are from among those included in the UNICEF country programme and cover primary education, women in development, children in especially difficult circumstances, primary health and water supply and sanitation.
