  A neurotrophic factor which was discovered in 1992, and which is said to belong to the "true" neurotrophin family.
  
  NT-4 has much the same spectrum of activities as NGF (nerve growth factor), especially in promoting the survival of motor neurons and some populations of sensory neurons.
